Draftology is a Brisbane based drafting company that specialises in structural steel workshop details used by fabricators to manufacture all types of steel structures. We also provide site drawings for the installation of holding down bolts and marking plans, sections and details for site personnel to construct the steel structure.

Draftology was founded in 2003 by Lee Parker who at the time was working as technical support and training for AceCad Software, the company that develop and distribute StruCad, a specialised 3D modelling package used in the structural steel industry.

Because of his background Lee takes much pride in the presentation of the 2D drawings and site layouts used by other parties, a quality that he instils in everyone at Draftology.

With the demise of StruCad in 2012, we made the move to Bocad 3D steel detailing. This was a huge step up for us at the time. We used this package until July 2019 when we made the switch over to the much more powerful Tekla Structures detailing program and are very happy with the improvement in our modelling ability.

Lee Parker

Director

Lee started off as a technical apprentice for a large fabricator in the UK in 1988. He worked on the drawing board for 6 years where he progressed on to be a checker & section leader before moving onto the StruCad 3D package in 1994.

In 1999, Lee took some time away from the board and spent a year travelling around Australia, topping up his funds working for a drawing office in Melbourne.

After returning to the UK, AceCad (Australia) contacted Lee and offered him a position in software support and training in the WA office, where he stayed for 12 months before moving to Brisbane.

In 2003, Lee started Draftology…

Hayden Small

Drafting Supervisor

Hayden completed a National Diploma in Architectural Technology at Unitec in New Zealand. On completion of his Diploma, he and his wife moved to Australia and he started with Draftology in 2007.

He has 5 years experience using Strucad, 7 years experience with Bocad and has been using Tekla Structures since Draftology made the switch in July 2019.

Hayden, his wife and 3 children made the move back to New Zealand at the end of 2017 to be with family. He has remained working for Draftology, remotely from the beautiful Bay of Islands.
